TECHNICAL SECTION

In-depth knowledge of theory-hand on techniques regarding idea, design, acquirement, development and prototype.

The student achieves a detailed basic knowledge of the theory-hand on techniques regarding idea, design, acquirement, development and prototype in leather of the main footwear models, as well as knowledge of feet, form, components and leather tanning methods.

The class is numerus clausus with at most five students. The footwear model maker is able to develop new and modified footwear models translating design input into footwear product technical functionality.

The main activities of this professional figure involve the creative processing of footwear models, the functional development of footwear components, the design and composition of the sample footwear product.

  • The foot and form; how to convey foot measurements onto the form.
  • ow to work a form (details of changes)
  • How to distinguish the different forms according to the models.
  • Details of materials; how to work them.

COURSE PROGRAMME:

  • History of footwear
  • Merceology of footwear materials and components: various and exotic leathers, tanning (integrate with leather line course)
  • The use of specific tools in manual footwear production
  • Technical knowledge of forms
  • Choice or creation of paper model
  • Leather cutting
  • Preparing leather for trimming machine (creation of uppers)

COURSE PROGRAMME:

  • Material preparation (shoulders, back, tips and strong parts)
  • Fitting upper on form
  • Preparing the leather (turn and insole)
  • Soling
  • Total hand stitching (turn and perforation)
  • External sole finishing
  • Heel creation and fitting (half rubber or plain)
  • Bottom finish (seat lift, etc.)
  • Removal of wooden form and internal shoe finishing
  • Hammering, sole creation and marking
  • Basic polishing techniques
PRACTICAL INTERNSHIP MARINI CALZATURE

Teaching outings and workshops will enable the student to learn the basics of the trade, according to the practical philosophy that distinguishes our Academy.

Carlo Marini will personally supervise the course, taking part in the most important boutique workshops and in the lessons.

At the end of training, the I.G.A. DIPLOMA is awarded, a passepartout for the world of work, as well as certifying the student's attendance of the course, also bears, at the bottom, the signature of the designer, thus becoming a real acknowledgment of the experience acquired.
